CSK vs MI IPL 3 Match Result: Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians: Sachin Tendulkar nudged Mumbai Indians to an emphatic win

Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians IPL 3 match ended with Mumbai Indians winning with ease. Chennai Super Kings's total of 180 didn't help them secure a win! Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar took care of the proceedings!

"If Dalai Lama were to watch the IPL, would he support the Chennai Super Kings or the Royal Challengers Bangalore?"

I read on Yahoo, a headline, on Dalai Lama watching the IPL! I didn't read the article fully. Hopefully, will catch it today. By the way, one more Kudos to us for two of our predictions had turned right. We said in our last post that Dhoni will come back in to the side for the match against Chennai Super Kings for some damage control, then the Chennai Super Kings will lose the match against the Mumbai Indians! Gee! We have been right on more than one occasion!

Sachin Tendulkar won the toss. Experience helped Sachin take good decision

Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and decided to field. The Mumbai Indians rather restricted the Chennai Super Kings to a 180? Knowing that the Mumbai Indians will win the match with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar? Earlier Mongoose bat Matthew Hayden scored 4 fours of consecutive deliveries of Zaheer Khan. Then, he got out cheaply.

Suresh Raina came to the crease and scored a well made 83 off 52 balls with seven fours and three sixes and remained unbeaten. Subramaniam Badrinath scored 55 off 45 balls. In Twitter, it was joked that the strategy of Mumbai Indians was to not appeal for Badrinath's wicket. The batsman did not give a flying edge to his game but rather scored better than a run a ball.

They sailed the Chennai Super Kings to a comfortable total of 180 runs. It could also be called as a comfortable total for the Mumbai Indians to chase with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. The Chennai Super Kings, though they scored at 9 runs per over, lacked a fighting spirit. The team always looks ordinary and looks like "just-out-of-bed".

They scored a few shots here and there except for Suresh Raina's batting who scored most of the runs. This is a serious sectarian humiliation for the Chennai Super Kings. This further echoes the stigmatizing of the Chennai players as lacking talent to play at the International level. At least Dinesh Karthik is one of the fine players from the soil, who unfortunately plays for the Delhi Daredevils.

Even that move would not make much of a change. The commentators (probably Harsha Bhogle I remember) told that the last over by Lasith Malinga which gave away just 7 runs could have been the crucial turn around for the Mumbai Indians. Was it true? It clearly indicated that the total on the board was not enough for the lackluster Chennai Super Kings bowlers to defend.

The Mumbai Indians innings

The Mumbai Indians scored at brisk pace right from the beginning. Shikhar Dhawan scored a brisk 56 off 34 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Then, Sachin maneuvered the team to a superb victory with 8 fours and 1 six. His strike rate was 138.46. Sachin Tendulkar scored 72 off 52 balls. The inexperience of Saurabh Tiwary was revealed when he fell to the spin wizard Mutthiah Muralitharan. He was caught LBW by a straightening Mutthiah Muralitharan delivery which pitched in line. Mutthiah Muralitharan made useful contribution by picking up 2 wickets but that was not enough for the Chennai Super Kings to win.

The team demanded a team effort to win. Probably, the next IPL auction will call for a few good bowlers for the Chennai Super Kings team. It was all quite easy for the Mumbai Indians and they never looked out of the game for even a single moment. The Mumbai Indians won the game against Chennai Super Kings quite comfortably.

I wanted to see God today. He came in the form of Sachin Tendulkar!

I wanted to see God. I knew I would see him today. I gleefully saw Him score 72 off 52 balls. I was wondering if I wanted Chennai Super Kings to win or Sachin Tendulkar to score a comfortable half century. I opted for the latter. I had long foregone my love for the Chennai Super Kings that the team remains the least glamorous of all. Even the ever losing Kings XI Punjab has been glamorous! Not only with Preity Zinta! Mind you!
