The Chennai Super Kings innings

Murali Vijay has played a fantastic innings. In today's T20 powered innings, what Sanath Jayasuriya played a decade back is possible to more batsmen. But then, these batsmen are not devoid of their class. Murali vijay may well be on his way to becoming a Test, One day and an important T20 batsman. With his two previous match winning knocks, Murali Vijay made himself available for the Twenty20 World Cup 2010.

Entire Chennai was waiting for Albie Morkel to play a fine innings. He proved his capability with this innings but what the spectators expect from him is another fine innings where he marshals the Chennai Super Kings to an emphatic win.

It was insignificant that Dhoni fired yesterday. The team was batting well at least. A total of 246 and a breezy knock of 127 off 56 balls from Murali Vijay was good enough to announce the Chennai Super Kings getting back to form. But in IPL, the results may still go more unpredictable.

The Rajasthan Royals innings

The Rajasthan Royals is considered as one of the best teams in the IPL but there are teams who keep constantly getting the better off each other. The poor fielding and bowling of Chennai Super Kings let the Rajasthan Royals post 223 runs to lose the game. The Chennai Super Kings's bowling has always remained ordinary and they could very well let the others take advantage of their bowling. The team that is destined to lose might go on to win or might at least come closer to victory like Rajasthan Royals did yesterday.

The Chennai Super Kings are good at reflexive fielding but one wonders why they fail tremendously in catching sitters. Do they become shaky? Are they nervous? Or is that fear of failure? With Naman Ojha's 94 off 55 and Shane Watson's muscle powered 60 off 25, the Rajasthan Royals chased from almost 200 runs required off 90 balls and came closer to victory with only 23 runs short of finishing on the winning side.

A Doug Bollinger has to land only a couple of days before to rescue the team from a Chennai Super Kings bowling massacre. Improvements on ground fielding, catching and bowling (introducing new and effective bowlers) will take the Chennai Super Kings past the first round and move them to the top four from where they can aim for an IPL victory!
