There is more to this and that the agenda is not only to intimidate Pakistan or to overpower them but also to meet the rising oil demand in India. When oil prices are shooting up, the UPA government is seeking desperate measures to supply oil as per the demand. This also explains why there is a sudden favoring of Saudi Arabia who had hitherto been a strong ally of Pakistan!
This is doubly beneficial for India and the Saudi-Pak relations could be affected by the Saudi resonating the US and keeping trade with India! But it remains to be seen for all of us whether Petrol prices will be reduced in the coming months!

Shashi Tharoor Saudi Arabia Controversy
I am overrating the issue as a controversy. Also giving an indirect publicity to BJP. What I loved most was the tweet "BJP apparently has demanded an explanation of Shashi Tharoor's remarks. Here, I say, take the Oxford English dictionary," from all twitter-ers. Had a good laugh before commenting on the issue.
It was funny to observe that both the BJP and the Communists have demanded explanations on his remarks. Let me tell you that it is quite absurd to say the least. I think the explanation demanded by the Communists was on a political front and their principles and perspectives on different nations including that of India.
Remember that even the Communists feel alien to me with the BRIC or at least the BRC wielding a strong clout over the other nations where Communism is predominant and the recent victim could be Nepal I believe and the long term victims are West Bengal and worse, Kerala. It is as much as India playing second fiddle to America or the claims that state as such.
The "not-so-greener-grass" (chuckles) on the other side could be termed a desert, if you know what I mean. Let us come back to the statements of the BJP. Is the BJP signing the attendance register after a rather well received budget by the UPA? I do not see anything close to their primary principles on their remark. Probably it seems to have been borrowed from their Communist counterparts.
Shashi Tharoor clever on his remarks
Shashi Tharoor's remarks come after Saudi Arabia condemned Pakistan for being a safe haven for terrorists. What I heard from Saudi Arabia was the voice of Barack Obama! America's external affairs strategies and latent views on Pakistan have been reflected on Saudi Arabia's remarks on Pakistan. Saudi Arabia was one of the strongest allies of Pakistan who supported Pakistan during their wars with India. Back then, America pampered Pakistan.
Now the scenario is totally different. Barack Obama won Presidency reiterating his stand on Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and the Middle East. There was an anti-incumbency factor against George Bush and the Republican stand point on various issues like Iraq.
Now only since a few hours before, Saudi Arabia and India have been talking on bilateral trade and other strategic partnerships. Now, are you able to understand the reasons why Shashi Tharoor made such remark? Or are you able to understand the true meaning of Shashi Tharoor's remarks? Shashi Tharoor made such a remark to send out a strong signal to Saudi for building strategic relationships and this will send shivers down the spine of Pakistan in losing out a long term support!
Pakistan has been writing its own fate by letting terrorists run its own government or due to its inability in handling the all powerful Taliban. Either way, Pakistan is in a state of despair and I pity Pakistan (though not the Government but the people).
Shashi Tharoor has been shrewd and clever as he always is!

IPL - Back in India
To some of us it might seem as a hyperbolic event! But the truth is much different. The strategy on the part of IPL administrators to popularize the tournament abroad in other cricket playing nations has turned out to be an unsuccessful one.
I chanced upon to read an article about Pakistani players angry about being snubbed in the IPL-3 Auctions. In fact, in similar fashion, the IPL was snubbed in South Africa drawing lesser crowds from South Africa as well as attracting lesser interests from India. An anonymous blogger added some attraction to the behind the scenes from the Kolkata Knight Riders team.
Otherwise, the IPL was a mere run-of-the-mill last time. But the latest attempt to revive the interests might start to work well in the cricket crazy nation. Do Indians feel much acknowledged and have their interests revived in the IPL after the IPL's failure to establish itself abroad? Or forget the abandonment in the last season and embrace the new season as faithful audience?
But the Back In India campaign is nevertheless blatant and overt in using a failure to create success. This indicates how such an overtly commercial phenomenon can turn out to indulge in such lame attempt to attract the audiences in any way possible.
What is debatable is not the strategic decision making of the administrators but their ways in attracting the necessary audience to survive. Both the Back In India slogan and campaign seem to be very much of a lame attempt that tries to cover up a past mistake. But then the audiences are the ones who have to look at the campaign in the right way.
IPL is a treasure hunt for player delinquencies and infinite controversies in which case the game seems monotonous than the anonymous blogger. IPL has initiated the very first of controversies through the omission of Pakistani players which might be another notoriously, infamous tactic on finding the headlines or the omission of Pakistani players was intended for security reasons or for other international players to feel comfortable playing the game!
