Raavanan better: Raavan bitter: Abhishek Bachchan sucks! Aishwarya Rai and Vikram steal the show

Raavanan and Raavan have hit the screens today! Sometime back, we felt that the songs were more of Hindustani but now the audiences in the north are feeling that the songs have more of a southern flavor. The Hindi film is a let down where one of the review criticizes Abhishek Bachchan of "taking more than he can chew" but "Vikram" is more accomplished as "Veera". Vikram portrays every emotion with ease. His talents and eyes are truly portraying of emotions.

Here is my review about "Raavanan":

Here is my interview with Mani Ratnam:

The film is unfairly attacked and targeted for the ethnic confusions and overtones. Let us see how the film is and decide for ourselves. Ultimately, the Hindi film sucked and the Tamil film did well! Some common misconceptions are that Aishwarya Rai looks beautiful throughout the film in the jungle terrains! The answer to this question could be that she is naturally beautiful and that due to the dampness she looks pale throughout the film.

Judging the Tamil film solely on the performance of the Hindi film is not common sense! The Tamil Film will do well. Unfair criticisms bearing at the back of the mind that Ramayana and Ram are tainted shows intolerance to art, creativity and fiction. Even in my interview with Mani Ratnam, he said that there is a human side to everything and that we should see everything from the human side of things.

That is what he has done again in 'Raavanan'.

  1. dude it sucked in both versions...tamil hindi both...lets face its just an overhyped film..an lotta people were mesmerized by the photography and stuff (i suggest watching the National geographic channel)...the Ramayana itself provides a better balanced view of Ravanan...The guy (RAAVAN)happened to be a genius who goofed cos of testosterone fueled decision...anyway u write well man...but even Mani Ratnam aint flawless...this is just a prime example...oh and Abhishek Bachan Cannnot ACT!!!

  2. I laughed out loud at your last line! Of course, Raavanan and Raavan, as verdicts dictate, did not do well. Now, I agree that it may have sucked in both the versions, but Raavanan is more of a scapegoat amidst films that take ravening marketing practices and sell any crap.

Leave alone the screenplay and story, how come a film with superior making could turn out to be criticized so much? When crap films turn hits with post-release marketing, this film did not need to be so much criticized. Perhaps, the heightened expectations led to the collective frustration?

Who knows! I also liked your comment on 'Raavan' goofing up to testosterone fueled decision. You also seem to be a good writer. And Thank you very much for your comments on me! At least that received a positive comment :) Of course, Mani Ratnam has a lot of limitations which has been seen so many times but his reigning supreme after almost 30 years (though 30 is not complete) with about 20 films and still to be one of the best contemporary directors of Indian Cinema is great!

Even after the failure of this film, he still remains to be one of the best directors in India! Big directors fail more than once and always stay being the best!

  3. The dialogues were poor and the actors & actresses ,Aishwarya included only did a bunch of expression , it was all faces with action threwn in between like " falling of a cliff" wich once again also turned into a bunch of expressions no clever dialogues. The movie was like watching a book of pictures that once in a while "blinked" !
dissapointing...and overrated, too commercialized, das sar waleeeeeeeeeee! only dialogue worth mentioning in between aishwaryas screams and shocked stares.
